Sometimes Syfy does it right with their killer monster movies. Though "Scarecrow" was nothing special, I still really enjoyed it. If you are not a fan of CGI, you will most probably hate this movie. It's a CGI's fan's wet dream. However, I really think it works. Instead of a traditional looking killer Scarecrow ( which has already been done to death) this "Scarecrow" is a really cool looking monster.
The plot, like most Syfy monster movies, is very simple and to the point.
A young woman Kristen (Lacey Chabert "Black Christmas (2006), Family Guy (TV Series)
Meg Griffin / Jan Brady and a ton of Lifetime and Hallmark Channel Holiday movies) returns to her small hometown, only to find that a family curse that was supposedly long dead and buried, is back to continue to wipe out her family's lineage. What seemed like an innocent, detention day trip, will be their last, for a group of unsuspecting high school kids.
The legend of the Scarecrow is true and is seeking it's bloody revenge. It will kill anything or anyone that stands in the way of it taking young Kristen's life.
One by one, the Scarecrow slices and dices through her ex boyfriends and the innocent school children.
When only Kristen and the Scarecrow remain, it is a bloody battle until the very end.
By the way, if the only way the Scarecrow can die, is to be buried, then I guess the Scarecrow isn't really dead?
Who knows if Syfy plans on making a sequel or not? I'd probably watch it as I really enjoyed this one.
There is of course a gaggle of sexy male eye candy like Aaron (Robert Dunne, "Dawson's Creek, Sanctuary (TV Series) and Defiance (TV Series) Eddie (Carlo Marks "Smallville (TV Series) and Daevon (Reilly Dolman "Goblin" and Supernatural (TV Series).
Again "Scarecrow" is nothing that special, that you haven't already seen ad nauseam in many Syfy and Chiller TV , monster movies, but I can say, it was definitely one of the better ones.
