MOVIE REVIEW: THE VISIT

THE VISIT IS ONE TRIP YOU DON'T WANT TO TAKE
M. Night Shyamalan usually strikes gold with many of his hit movies like " The Sixth Sense" and "Signs" but " The Visit" totally missed the mark.

" The Visit" was pretty much doomed from the start, because the whole thing was filmed in documentary/found footage style, long after that craze had already faded. It is extremely difficult to watch for several reasons. The first, being one of the grandchildren, Tyler. You want to see him dead from the very first second you meet him. Who's stupid idea was it to get this completely untalented, white boy to rap several times in this film? I'd love to see this re-cut without all of that crap. Honestly, the two kids Tyler and Becca are not bad actors, but the insanely bad and annoying rap, just has to go,period! The second reason this movie was virtually unwatchable, was because it was filmed entirely by the two grandchildren who each had a camera. I would have like to have seen both kids die a horrible death and get those cameras firmly implanted where the sun don't shine.

Finally, WTF DID I JUST WATCH?? is what you will be asking yourself at the end. It reminded me a little of "10 Cloverfield Lane". I must explain what I mean. I do not think that this complete piece of cinematic garbage, could ever be compared to an incredible movie like "10 Cloverfield Lane". That being said, there are some really interesting similarities. Is it a horror/suspense thriller or a science fiction movie? The answer might shock you.
Again, as with "10 Cloverfield Lane", the downside is, that you are left with several important and unanswered questions. That in itself, is very frustrating. Because these questions remain unanswered, it makes you feel cheated.

Listen closely, don't waste your time trying to figure the movie out, because NOTHING IS EVER EXPLAINED!!!!!

The very brief and unbelievably vague "explanation" ( if you want to call it that) is pretty insulting to anyone with half a brain.

That being said, there are a few intense moments, a few funny moments and a few really disturbing moments , that prove to be pretty entertaining. I also really enjoyed the very creepy grandparents.

My advice to M. Night Shyamalan, is pay attention to what kind of filming styles are NOT popular, currently, so you won't make such a costly mistake again.

Your brother was wrong M. Night Shyamalan, about including a full long ending where Tyler once again showcased his intensely awful rap skills. It was painful enough to have to watch your movie at all, than be tortured by having to see and hear that godawful misuse of talent , yet once again.

Please M. Night Shyamalan, don't you think we have suffered enough?

If this is what we can expect from your update of the "Tales From The Darkside" series, I'd like to lead the plea in asking you to find another job.

I think that if "The Visit" was filmed regularly, no stupid kid rapping and made a bit more sense, it might have made an ok film.

I gave a great deal of thought to this but I decided to included it anyway. SPOILER ALERT
Shame on you M. Night Shyamalan for exploiting the elderly and people with mental handicaps. To compare or allude to the health problems of the elderly as being akin to alien, paranormal or extraterrestrial behavior, is just insulting and degrading to the elderly and people with serious mental issues. Point blank, it exploits the elderly and people with mental illness. Very offensive to people with Alzheimer's syndrome, sun downers syndrome, incompetence and other related issues of the elderly. It is just in bad taste

"The Visit" is one trip, you do not want to take.
